Age: 14 From: Kent
Following the loss of his beloved grandmother to bowel cancer in 2010, Jonjo decided he was not going to rest until all cancers are cured. Since the age of eight, he has raised over £250,000 for Cancer Research UK through many tough and gruelling challenges; walking and cycling hundreds of miles in memory of his nan and his footballing hero, Bobby Moore, ‘For Nanny & Bobby’.
Jonjo remains a humble, focussed and hard-working 14-year-old, who gives up hours of his own time every week to train for his challenges and plan his next fundraising events. As well as fundraising, Jonjo also creates awareness for the charity through his large social media following and through speeches at events. Jonjo’s fundraising challenges have grown and grown each year, gaining more and more followers. The best example of this is his annual ‘Angel Ceremony’ which attracts people from all over the UK. Jonjo walks in memory of hundreds of people lost to cancer, these ‘Angel’ names are printed on his t-shirt which he wears throughout the event. This has of course benefitted the community who have come together to remember those lost, while raising money to prevent more people losing their fight with cancer.
