Luke was born with complex heart defects, for which he has endured four open heart surgeries and countless other operations and procedures, spending lengthy periods of his young life in hospital.
Whilst preparing for his fourth open heart surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital in December 2014, Luke hatched a plan to celebrate every national day of 2015. This was to raise money for ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’ the charity that granted Luke his own wish to meet Buzz Lightyear in Disneyland.
His campaign #celebrateadaywithluke saw him fundraise for 365 days, raising a total of £28,046.16, completely smashing his own imposed target of £25,000, and all whilst recovering from major open heart surgery.
Luke has battled with his health his entire life and continues to do so. Every day Luke deals with pain, tube feeds, medication and struggles, yet he always worries about others and puts them first. He wants to ensure as many children as possible get their wish granted and get precious time away from the hospital with their family. He continues to fundraise and his current total stands at £30,861.84. He is currently planning a charity football match in March 2017 and a spooky window contest in the local community for Halloween.
